Aerosol Data: Particulate Matter (PM2.5) mass and Black Carbon (BC) concentrations and Gas phase Data: Carbon monoxide and Ozone measured at Eglin Air force base in 2023 during prescribed burning events.

The data is collected at one Georgia Tech instrumented trailer located at three different locations (shown in the locations information) from March 10 till 20, 2023. Trailer was set in the mentioned locations based on the planned burn unit G25 on March 11 and 16, and unit G20 on March 19. This data was collected to improve the characterization of O3 and PM formation in prescribed fire plumes through measurement.

method Data Limitation: PM2.5 mass was measured using a Tapered Element Oscillating Microbalance (TEOM) series 1400a ambient particulate monitor (Thermo Fisher Scientific). TEOM is a gravimetric measurement that determines the mass accumulated on a microbalance over a specified time interval and monitored sample air flow rate. Mass concentration over an averaging period is calculated from the difference recorded between successive intervals. Due to random fluctuations in the instrument operation when concentrations are low, this can lead to negative numbers. PM2.5 mass concentration data was recorded at an averaging time of 60 seconds and limit of detection (LOD) of 5.58 µg/m3 determined by 3 standard deviations of blank measurements for the TEOM used in this study. The data reported can be averaged over 20 or 30 minutes to mitigate noise, especially when sampling background conditions, i.e., PM2.5 mass concentrations are low and approaching the LOD.
