National IA Frequency Zones (International)

Initial attack frequency zones are used by pilots and dispatchers for purposes of response to incidents such as wildland fires. Use of international initial attack frequency zones would be coordinated as needed by the Communications Duty Officer at the National Interagency Fire Center (NIFC), Initial attack frequency zones are delineated to help ensure that frequencies used do not "bleed" over into other nearby incident areas causing issues for incident communications. The data contains no actual frequencies, but does contain the zone identifier. 2/3/2022 - Northern and western boundaries of WA01-N modified by Kim Albracht, Communications Duty Officer (CDO), to follow international border between Vancouver Island and Washington State. All changes specifically made for use in CFETS (Communication Frequency, Equipment, Tracking System) program during 2022. Edits by JKuenzi.6/1/2021 - Northern boundary of WA01-N modified by Kim Albracht, Communications Duty Officer (CDO), to include part of Vancouver Island and a new western border. Label for 2 small parcels of land in Montana changed from MT04-N to MT04-S. All changes specifically made for use in CFETS (Communication Frequency, Equipment, Tracking System) program during 2021. Edits by JKuenzi.12/2/2020 - Data derived from existing Federal Initial Attack Frequency Zone data and modified as directed by Kim Albracht, Communications Duty Officer (CDO) at the National Interagency Fire Center (NIFC). Polygons represent a starting point from which coordination would begin in the event of a wildfire or other incident with the potential to impact lands in the United States and Canada. Edits by JKuenzi.
